There’s mythbusting, and then there’s history mythbusting.
Join Amos Vang as he interviews Sebastian Major, a history teacher and host of the award-winning podcast Our Fake History!
In a similar vein to This is the Legend Of…, Sebastian focuses on telling the unknown stories of history itself: everywhere from ancient history to classical history to even the history of professional wrestling! In this episode, Amos and Sebastian also emphasize the importance of cultural humility and cultural understanding, particularly in the sense of removing a Eurocentric/Western bias when understanding non-Western cultures and non-Western histories. Amos and Sebastian also discuss the fact that not everything has to follow a Western perspective, and that something can be correct (or even more correct) and does not have to be a Western perspective.

At 8 years old, Kerson Leong ((梁喬信) won his first national music competition, and then won the next 4 consecutive national music competitions at 9, 10, 11, and 12 years old.
At 13 years old, he won 1st prize at the International Yehudi Menuhin Competition (the Olympics/Paralympics of violin). To this day, NO OTHER CANADIAN has achieved this feat (the closest was Scott St. John’s 3rd place finish in 1985).
At 13 years old, King Harald V of Norway personally congratulated him on his 1st prize win.
Before the age of 22, he has performed for 2 Canadian prime ministers, 2 Canadian governor generals, King Harald V of Norway, and one Italian president.
At 24 years old, in the Toronto Star, Jonathan Crow (concertmaster for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra) described Kerson as “one of THE greatest violinists, period.”
Join Amos Vang as he interviews his maternal cousin, Kerson Leong, on his incredible career. In this 3-hour interview, the cousins talk about Kerson’s career, their respective experiences in the Canadian Music Competition (Kerson in violin, and Amos in piano), the difference between good musicians and great musicians, their experiences on mastering musicality, and how Canada can catch up with the rest of the world in terms of classical music appreciation.
謝謝, 喬信.
